Beautiful knife! Very cool design. It looks like any possible future handle looseness can be adjusted, which was important to me. I kinda wanted to take the clip off and use it in a slip, but don’t want a big hole there on this knife so that probably won’t happen.. 2 screws instead of 1 on the clip would probably give me more peace of mind. I will have to watch that. I don’t really like the front flipper at all. it actually inhibits use of the thumb opener by catching index finger a bit. One way to open is fine. Ask spyderco.
I would have really liked to see the backspacer all the way up to and hiding that one visible post as well. The blade could still be supported by post with it being hidden and it would have additional support from backspacer which would make whole knife tougher. I’m a critic and a knife expert that deals with mostly Japanese handmade knives. I don’t really care for the new US and China CNC knives. I tend to like knives made by knifemakers. Remette is trying new things which I like too.
REMETTE RT-Woodpecker Folding Pocket Knife M390 Blade Crystallized Titanium Handle RTWP-IB
Everyone I hand this knife to can't figure out how it's put together without any visible hardware hahaha. It's definitely one of the more interesting knives in my collection. The multi-row bearings on mine were a little "gritty" out of the box but have broken In ULTRA Smooth now. I wish more companies would use multi-row bearings like these. I really believe multi-row bearings are just better all the way around(no pun intended). I don't see any downside to multi-row bearing's except maybe price. I also appreciate Remette is heat treating their M390 closer to what it needs to be at. A lot of companies are running it 59-61 which is just too soft for M390 in my opinion. 60-62 is good, 61-63 would be awesome, but 60-62 is fine. One other thing that would be REALLY COOL would be putting a little mini "L" shaped T-8 wrench that somehow clips inside or onto the show side liner. The show side scale would just clip over top in the same way. How awesome would that be to have the disassembly tool is "INSIDE" the knife? I know Remette has the precision to do it so it would fit really tight and wouldn't rattle around...I mean they did it with that show side scale(ultra precise). Of course all the internal hardware would have to be T-8 but everyone likes all T-8 hardware anyway👍🏻
Easily my favorite knife to fidget with! Had to buy it from their Amazon account, but no worries. The crystallized titanium was a hit at the christmas party and the no screws to be seen sent the real knife lovers over the edge. Just bought 3 more directly from REMETTE! Packaging was delightfully festive and the knife itself is straight up
b-e-a-utiful 😍
I fell in love with the color of the handle/grips and the silhouette of the blade. I love the engineering of no fasteners. The crystalline looks of the titanium was rather intriguing. I found though that the backspacer and the clip were more purple than blue. That is a ditractant to me. If I went in to a shop and pay a couple hundred bucks on a cool knife I would not have picked one where the colors were not all the same. The button could have had a better gimping for me a tad difficult to engage and a bit hard to slide the scale to open up the inside of the knife. I’m also tired of paying big dollars for knives and receiving them longer than a couple days. Outside of these issues which are obviously my issue with today’s world and businesses I would have given a solid 5 but four is good but there is much room for improvement.
