Another super knife from Remette in the gravity knife line. These are so fidgety and useful at the same time. Keep em coming!!!
As a collector of high-end production knives (Benchmade, ZT, Spyderco), I picked up the Remette RT-Sharp Leopard ZL301C to see how it stacks up against the current gravity knife market. Here is the reality for anyone considering this over the Reate EXO.
The Action & Lockup
The Sharp Leopard is built for security and utility, not pure fidgeting. Unlike the free-falling Reate EXO, this uses a locking track. Because of that lock, the "fidget factor" is lower. If you try to flick it out too hard, the blade tends to bounce back into the handle instead of locking open. It requires a more deliberate, controlled deployment to engage the lock correctly. It’s not a "flick and forget" action; it takes a bit of a learning curve to get the timing right.
Build Quality & Materials
The Bohler M390 blade is excellent, and the 60-62 HRC holds a phenomenal edge for daily tasks. The sandblasted titanium handle feels substantial and premium—definitely not "flimsy." The "cling" sound of the metal sliding is distinct and high-quality.
Final Verdict
If you want a toy to play with at your desk, the EXO is more "fidget-friendly." But if you want a locking gravity knife that feels like a legitimate tool you can trust for EDC, the Remette is the better "Total Package." Just be aware that it won't be as smooth of a "flicker" out of the box.
